Logistics & Material Flow at Mercedes-Benz Group AG
Duration: August 2024 - September 2024
Location: Untertürkheim, Germany
During my time at Mercedes-Benz, I worked directly in the logistics department to ensure the smooth operation of internal supply chains. Gaining this hands-on operational experience was critical for understanding the physical mechanics of intralogistics, allowing me to manage the physical movement of high-value automotive components effectively.
Proactive Qualification
Before entering the active warehouse floor, I wanted to ensure immediate operational readiness. I independently completed my official industrial forklift certification (Staplerschein) through DEKRA just three weeks prior to my start date.
Core Responsibilities & Operations
- Heavy Material Handling: Safely operated specialized industrial forklifts equipped with 2-meter extended forks to maneuver oversized and complex automotive pallets.
- Process Execution: Executed secure transport, targeted material retrieval, and internal logistics processes to guarantee an uninterrupted supply chain on the shop floor.
- Systems Integration: Managed material procurement and tracked inventory workflows using enterprise ERP/SAP systems.
- Operational Safety: Maintained strict compliance with Mercedes-Benz’s internal safety protocols and space-management standards on a highly active warehouse floor.
